ABOUT CHANDIGARH

Chandigarh is a city in both the Punjab and the Haryana. The name means "stronghold of the Goddess Chandi," derived from Chandi Mandir, a temple dedicated to the goddess that is located near the city of Chandigarh. The major population (73.6%) speaks Hindi, while 22.3% speaks Punjabi. It is located about 245 km north of New Delhi and on the Indo-Gangetic Plain, a short distance southwest of the Siwalik range (Shivalik range), and between two seasonal hill torrents, the Sukhna and Patiali rivers. The city is bordered by both Haryana and Punjab.

It is a city and a Union territory. Being one of the most planned cities in the country, people love to settle here. It is divided into sectors and makes one easy to locate a place. In the summer months (April to September) temperature ranges between 40 and 42 °C, while in the winter months (November to February) temperatures ranges between 5 and 14 °C with frequent rain showers. The season of Monsoon i.e. (June-September) is hot and humid.
