Amidst Aravalli hills, located 184 kilometres southwest of the state capital Jaipur lies Beawar. The city was established by the British officer Colonel Charles George Dixon in the 19th century as a military cantonment. It is a mineral rich region having reserves of Magnesite, Calcite, Limestone, Mica, Emerald, Granite and Masonry stone, Feldspar, Quartz, Asbestos, Soapstone. In past years, the city used to be a major trade centre for raw cotton.
The city has now evolved into a major trading hub, keeping the essence of the past years intact. The local markets of Beawar is a trading center for rural arts and crafts. Popular sites of religious importance of the city include Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Sumatinath Jain Temple, Schoolbread Memorial CNI Church and Ashapura Mata Temple.”
